DIY Headlight Restoration: Use What You Have at Home

Got any toothpaste or insect repellent? You might be able to clean up your car's headlights with just a rag and one of these two items if so. Headlight restoration is a tricky business, and sometimes, you just need your headlights replaced.

However, if you want to clean your lights on your own, then you can take a bit of toothpaste or insect repellent, wiping down the discolored areas with a rag. If that is not working, you may be able to get away with using an abrasive and a polish or a headlight restoration kit. Abrasives can cause damage to the glass of the headlight if you are not careful.

Want a professional's opinion? In some cases, headlights cannot be restored with a bit of toothpaste. In these instances, you just need a good deal on a new set of headlights. You can talk to the service department at West Herr Dodge in Orchard Park, NY for more information.
